INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION ON COMPOSITE MATERIAL & NANO-STRUCTURE

INTRODUCTION

Advanced Composites and Nanomaterials are becoming important materials for a wide range of application. They include aerospace, defence, automotive, satelite communication, medical and sporting goods. The main reasons for using advanced composites and  nano materials are their high strength to weight ratio, excellent heat properties, ability to tailor for specific function, availability and precision. Because of this, the interest in research, development and application of advanced composites and nanomaterials has increased. The research activites also has fortified and many institutions are involved. To keep abreast with the current research and the state of the art knowledge in advanced composites and nanotechnology has motivated the organising of this conference.

iC2MS is the international gathering of scientists and engineers involved in the field of advanced composite and nano materials and structures and its applications. The first conference iC2MS’06, was organised on April 26-29, 2006 in Shah Alam, Malaysia as an official event of the 10 th Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference (DSA). It was a very successful event.

iC2MS’08 is the second in the series of this conference. It is planned to take place in Melaka on 5-7August 2008. The conference, jointly organised by Scientific and Technological Research Institute for Defence (STRIDE), Ministry of Defence; the Institute of Advanced Technology (ITMA), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM); Sri Jentayu Sdn. Bhd, Composite Technology Research Malaysia (CTRM), SIRIM, UTeM, Dian Kreatif Sdn Bhd., and MARS, is providing an appropriate forum for such an exchange through this International Conference. The theme of iC2MS’08, “Composite Technology: Advances and Innovations the Way Forward”. It is the right platform for University, Industry and Users cooperation and collaboration.

 OBJECTIVES

 The objectives of  the conference are:-

-          provides an avenue to present state-of-the-art achievements and recent advances in advanced composite and nano materials through keynotes, oral and poster presentations,

-          discuss and identify key and emerging issues for future pursuits through informal and buiseness meetings,

-          facilitate broadening of and knowledge sharing and identify opportunities for long-term cooperative R and D ventures through bringing together leading experts and promising innovators from research institutions, end-use industries and academia
